At Typefolk we are very pleased to announce a collaboration and the introduction of a new award. Exclusively specialising in awarding lettering, type and calligraphy artwork a new trophy provides Typefolk with more recognition options.
The new Outstanding Artwork – Community Collaboration award will be bestowed by Typism. The Typism platform is community focused and has grown to reach an audience of over 100k with the mission of inspiring and helping creatives to develop sustainable businesses through the art of lettering. This mission has been achieved via conferences, workshops, Typism Membership (providing access to instructional videos), the world renowned Typism book series and much more.
Dominique Falla, Founder of Typism and an Associate Professor at Griffith University AU has been a significant and active member of the Typefolk judges panel since early launch. So we are excited to work more closely with Dominique and collaborate with the Typism team, as both are pillars within the lettering, type and calligraphy community.
Typism will be looking for a unique artwork piece published on Typefolk which stands out and consists of the exceptional quality deserving of the Outstanding Artwork award.
How to Earn the Award
For the opportunity to earn this exciting new collaborative award and have the honour of the Typism team consider your artwork outstanding, simply:
- Submit your lettering, type or calligraphy artwork via the Typefolk Enter page between the 10th February 2021 and the 10th March 2021. Entry is currently free!
- If your entry is published on Typefolk between the 14th February 2021 and the 21st March 2021 you could earn the award! The Typism team will award the trophy to a single piece published on the Typefolk site during this period which catches their eye.
The awarded piece will be announced in early April 2021.
Some Points to Note
All entries submitted must meet the entry guidelines available near the bottom of the Enter page in order to be published on Typefolk. The Typefolk FAQs should also be reviewed for information on entry such as how many pieces you can submit.
Artwork entered later during the submission period may not be published during the Typism collaboration, as entries are booked into the next available weekly slot and these can fill up fast. This means they will not be able to earn the collaborative trophy. Not to worry though, as any entries published both during and outside of the Typism collaboration will have the opportunity to earn the core Typefolk awards — Lettering Live Wire, Lettering Leader and Lettering Legend.
To earn the Outstanding Artwork Award your artwork does not need to have reached a specific stage of the core Typefolk awards, it just needs to be published between the dates mentioned above.
Awards issued through collaborations such as this one are special because they are not regularly available like some of the core Typefolk awards.
We hope to collaborate with more brilliant platforms like Typism to bring further trophies in the near future.
